The MuCell® Process: An Enabling Injection Molding Technology

Few technology developments have changed injection molding as much as the MuCell process in recent years. The patented technology provides for a microcellular material structure in injection molded plastics parts. As-manufactured Structural Simulation of Short Fiber Reinforced Plastic Parts

Short fiber reinforced plastic materials are commonly used for their strength and weight benefits, as well as their ability to be manufactured quickly. In order to complete an accurate structural simulation of a short fiber reinforced plastic part, the as-manufactured material properties need to be accounted for. Without including data such as fiber orientations and residual stresses/strains, the structural simulation results will not match the performance of the actual manufactured part. Learn how the as-manufactured material from Autodesk® Simulation Moldflow® can be used with Autodesk® Simulation Composite Analysis to complete an accurate nonlinear structural simulation. Chrome Plating Replacement Options to increase efficiency and production in applications where HCP does not perform effectively.

Hard Chrome Plating (HCP) of feedscrews and mixing rotors has been the traditional method of corrosion protection in PVC & CPVC applications. However, due to the high porosity of HCP and the lack of uniformity, especially in the radius, corrosive gasses are able to attack the substrate resulting in premature wear, excessive scrap and downtime. The porosity in HCP also creates challenges when cleaning or changing colors in a reasonable amount of time. However, there is now a better option called CarbideX CPR (Chrome Plating Replacement). CarbideX CPR is a super corrosion resistant, low porosity surface treatment that is uniformly applied three to four times thicker than standard HCP. Polished to a mirror finish; service life is increased and color changes are faster.
