Motan proudly introduces CONTROLnet, an integrated suite of controls that will offer plastics processors a completely new level of management capability in raw materials handling and processing. This completely new Ethernet-based operating platform represents a major step forward in versatility and integration of control procedures in the areas of storage, drying, blending and conveying of plastics material. By using common communication standards, the cost-effective modular controls are easily expandable and allow for a degree of freedom and flexibility of operation impossible until now. CONTROLnet comprises LUXORnet, GRAVInet and METROnet controls for drying, blending and conveying respectively. They can be used as stand-alone modules or combined to form a fully integrated network. All controls can be operated through Motan’s WEBpanel; a full color, easy to use graphic touch screen. The decentralised CONTROLnet concept utilizes worldwide established protocols such as Ethernet, TCP/IP, HTTP and e-mail. Through a WEBpanel, any part of a CONTROLnet installation can be operated. The panels can be built into a Motan unit or they can be freely located anywhere in the production facility. Horizontal integration enables highly cost-effective communication between Motan units. LUXORnet, for example, can support one LUXOR dryer, up to 16 dryings bins and a maximum of 40 material loaders, through the integrated convey control. GRAVInet supports one GRAVICOLOR gravimetric batch blender, up to seven material loaders and allows one blower station to be shared between several GRAVICOLOR blenders. METROnet is the ultimate system tool kit for complex plant conveying and storage systems. With this degree of versatility and flexibility, CONTROLnet installations can truly be tailored to the precise requirements of the processor. The Ethernet interface allows controls to link into other reporting and monitoring systems and functions in various company departments. Motan offers various Windows-based software programs for documentation and processing of production data. Thus, data can be processed in common databases, like Microsoft Excel or other operating data programs. Motan believes that CONTROLnet is a prime example of the company’s concern never to rest on its laurels, but always to seek new and better ways to provide the support which customers need in a difficult and challenging market.
