DAK Americas Forms Specialty Polymers Business
WEB EXCLUSIVE PET resin maker DAK Americas, Charlotte, N.C., has acquired the business and formulation technology for Crystal specialty polyester resins formerly made by DuPont Packaging & Industrial Polymers, Wilmington, Del. (DAK did not acquire the Crystar trade name.) These resins, made with DuPont “2GT” technology, are custom-tailored for with special I.V. levels, additives, and/or copolymers.

(DAK did not acquire the Crystar trade name.) These resins, made with DuPont “2GT” technology, are custom-tailored for with special I.V. levels, additives, and/or copolymers. These resins will be produced by DAK’s newly created Specialty Polymers Business Unit, with an initial capacity of 25 million lb/yr designated for these products. It will produce resins for specialty markets such as monofilament, nonwovens, CPET dual-ovenable packaging, very-high-I.V. rigid containers, and compounding of filled and reinforced engineering materials.
