A new color reflectance measurement instrument is ergonomically designed for use on the plant floor or outdoors. The MiniScan EZ from HunterLab, Reston, Va., has a rubberized handle for easy carrying that is said to virtually eliminate user fatigue when measuring a large number of samples. It weighs 2.25 lb with batteries. Measurements can be stored in memory for later printout or download to a PC. Features cited include superior measurement repeatability and agreement between multiple instruments, ability to take thousands of measurements using standard AA batteries, and a button pad for thumb-tip navigation of all functions.
