Miller Brewing Company used the space saving characteristics of the Vortice Ell Smart Elbow to create a new piping panel for transferring grain from railcar to silo. 12 six-inch 90-Degree elbows were installed in a space smaller than the average desktop. Miller's engineers were able to complete the project $30,000 under budget and ahead of schedule.

This enhanced computer plot demonstrates the flow characteristics of the patented Vortice Ell Smart Elbow at a conveying rate of 10 meters per second.

The motion inside the Vortice Ell's Smart Elbow’s specially designed chamber is visible in this demonstration using a using a transparent elbow and smoke. The clockwise rotation inside the chamber occurs at a slower speed than the rate at which the smoke travels through the elbow proper. In actual conveying situations the conveyed material forms a loose slowly rotating small ball of cushioning material inside the vortice chamber. This deflects flow through the elbow producing change of direction without impact, and without increasing pressure drop. Viewed at normal speed the flow of smoke clearly demonstrates the Vortex effect unique to the HammerTek Elbow. Note the deflection zone which appears at the lower right portion of the transparent Vortice Ell Smart Elbow.

Note the one sided output as these plastic pellets are thrown to the outside by the radius of this sweep elbow, creating both impact damage to both product and pipe. By contrast the flow of pellets from the HammerTek Vortice Ell Smart Elbow is evenly distributed across the whole area of the pipe.
