Article TextnThis month, Plastics Technology launches three new database tools on our Web site (www.ptonline.com). Like everything else at our site, they can be used free of charge. We're trying to be your one-stop plastics information source, and I think these newest features, combined with our other well-known products, put us there. And there's more to come.
The foundation of it all is the monthly Plastics Technology magazine, supplemented by our annual Processing Handbook & Buyer's Guide and our bimonthly new-product tabloid Plastics Technology Auxiliaries. And now there's our Web site. In January, we introduced a daily on-line news service, Plastics Technology Today, as well as searchable archives of Plastics Technology magazine articles since 1993. Within a little over a month, these two new features alone were drawing 2500 visitors a day to our site.
Here's what's new this month: You now have two new ways to look up who sells what in the way of equipment, materials, additives, or services. You can search a database of 225 categories of products and around 5000 suppliers (similar to the directory in the back of our annual Handbook). Also, you can read summaries of suppliers' product lines for 34 categories of equipment and additives (again, like those printed in our Handbook).
In addition, our Materials Databank is now searchable on line. Specify the properties or application requirements you are looking for and find a match among 13,000 resins and compounds. For each grade, there's much more data available here than is printed in our Handbook. Our next step is to create a searchable database of plastics machinery
Where else can you go for so much plastics information--all at no cost? It's all here!
