Multi-Color LSR Parts From a Single Barrel—April 2007

A new patent-pending technology that produces three-color molded parts from liquid silicone rubber using a single barrel is a new joint development from Toshiba Machine Co., Elk Grove, Ill., and M.R. Mold & Engineering Corp., Brea, Calif. The three-color/one-shot LSR process technology is offered exclusively on Toshiba's EC-NII all-electric molding machines. It reportedly saves time and money by eliminating post-mold decorating and the need for additional injection units to add color. Integral to the process are Toshiba's V-30 controller, which precisely monitors each step of the process, and a specially designed tool from M.R.
