New Source for Heat and Light Stabilizers—August 2007

A series of additives for polyolefi ns comes from South Korea's Songwon Industrial Co., Ltd. For many years, the fi rm produced 1010, 1976, and 168 type phenolic antioxidants for distribution by Clariant International. That relationship will end next January. To establish its own identity in this hemisphere, Songwon recently established Songwon InternationalAmericas, Inc. in Houston. In April, Songwon opened a new Korean world-scale plant for phenolic and phosphite antioxidants and the fi rm has been expanding its product line. The company says it is unique in offering both benzoate uv absorbers and the most complete range of thioester antioxidants, as well as primary phenolic types, phosphites, and HALS uv stabilizers. The new products, which will be highlighted at the K 2007 show in Dusseldorf this fall, include Songnox 1290 primary phenolic antioxidant and Songnox 6280 high-performance, hydrolytically stable phosphite. Other new products for Songwon are two benzoates-Songsorb 2908 and 7120-and three thioesters-Sognox DSTDP, DLTDP, and 4120. Tel: (281) 6481585 . www.songwonind.com
