Flexo/Screen Printer For Tubes—September 2007

A new servo-driven, hybrid flexo and screen printer boasts unmatched flexibility for tube decoration. It will be shown at K 2007 next month by the German parent of Isimat North America, Des Plaines, Ill. The unit has a rotary indexing table and up to eight printing stations. Screen printing stations can be interchanged with flexo units before each print run. Servo motors enable operators to optimize printing movements of each printing process at each station. Surface speeds of tubes under the uv lamps are adjustable to optimize curing. All speed settings can be stored as part of a job recipe. At the show, Isimat will also demonstrate an upgraded TS6090 servo-driven screen printer for direct printing on fl exible plastic tubes (photo). It will have an integrated print-inspection system and a new uv-curing system with water-cooled lamp heads. The latter are said to allow higher uv power output than with than air cooling.
