New Mold Components to Debut at K 2007—September 2007

Several new injection mold components have been introduced by D-M-E Co., Madison Heights, Mich., and will also be highlighted at the K 2007 show in Dusseldorf next month: Off-the-shelf packages of helicalgear devices for stack-mold centering that simplify the design and manufacture of stack molds. These are said to be an industry first. Until now, mold builders designed and built their own housing for the shaft and nuts. VectorForm lifters that allow for undercuts twice as deep as previously possible. A novel slide base (rather than the usual static base) is said to greatly extend lifter angles to 30o or more, vs. the usual 15o maximum. A new version of its Thinswitch limit switch, which verifies that the ejector-plate assembly is fully returned before allowing a mold to close after ejection. The new global Thinswitch is designed for molds with 3-mm and 4-mm rest buttons. Bakra quick-change clamping system with self-locking bayonet rings. Adapter plates on the molding machine lock onto locating rings on the mold. The Bakra system is for horizontal and vertical machines up to 200 tons. A date stamp in a new small size. The stainless-steel Multidater now comes in 8 mm diam. as well as 10- and 12-mm versions. Three indexable rings provide date-stamp information for 12 months and 6 years. Ejector pins with a thin, dense chrome (TDC) finish that eliminates need for external lubrication. Tel: (248) 398-6000 . www.dme.net
