Ultramarine Pigment Is Acid Resistant—October 2007

An acid-resistant ultramarine blue pigment has been further optimized for use in outdoor applications ranging from stadium seating to automotive parts, which can be exposed to acid rain. New Premier XAR ultramarine pigment from the U.K.’s Holliday Pigments (represented here by Whittaker, Clark & Daniels, South Plainfield, N.J.), is being launched at this month’s K 2007 show in Dusseldorf. This enhanced version of the acid-resistant Premier AR grade is said to be even more resistant to hydrochloric and sulfuric acids, which can fade standard ultramarine pigments. The particle size of the new grade is almost the same as before. A major plastics compounder has specified Premier XAR for seating at the Beijing stadium, now undergoing renovation for the 2008 Olympic Games. Tel: (908) 561-6100 • www.wcdinc.com
