Novel Glass-Based Special-Effect Pigments—October 2007

A new range of unusual glass-based effect pigments is said to be suited to plastics applications in packaging, household goods, and leisure items. Xymara Nordic pigments from Ciba Specialty Chemicals (U.S. office in Tarrytown, N.Y.) are making their debut at this month’s K 2007 show in Dusseldorf, Germany. These additions to Ciba’s Xymara special-effects pigments are said to reflect the natural shades and effects of frost, gold, heather, ocean, pine, and sunset. According to Ciba, they allow the creation of unique new shades and lend brilliance, sparkle, and glitter with transparency or opacity as desired. Tel: (800) 431-2360 • www.cibasc.com
