Gravimetric Inventory Management for Pellets—October 2007

Responding to demand for a method to weigh and store virgin or reprocessed pelletized materials,Process Control Corp., Atlanta, has come out with the Gravimetric Inventory Management System. It consists of a surge hopper that is loaded pneumatically from a pelletizer, railcar, bulk truck, or storage container. It has a viewing window, cleanout door, and high-level proximity sensor to prevent over-filling. Pellets are then discharged from the surge hopper through a slide gate into a weighed hopper. Finally, material is discharged through a second metering gate into a Gaylord box or is conveyed to a silo or storage bin. Supplied with a touchscreen controller, it can run automatically in a continuous or batch mode and can print out or transfer inventory data to a plant inventory control system.
