Hot Runners for Crate Molders—November 2007

A new hot-runner system is designed specifically for crate molders, who often use recycled materials that may contain contaminants. The new Bacchus system from D-M-E Co., Madison Heights, Mich., is the company's first that comes with a filter as standard. The filter is removable for cleaning without disassembling the whole manifold. Introduced at the K Show last month in Germany, Bacchus has two sealing zones to prevent leaks-a cylindrical front seal and titanium washer seal. These suit it to molding plants around the world that may not have maintenance expertise to deal with leaks. Bacchus comes with four or six drops and a nozzle with cast-in heater and removable point-gate or through-hole tip. It is designed for PE, PP, and PS in shots from 200 to 1000 g.
