Electric Valve Gate Is Four Times Faster—January 2008

A new electric valve-gate actuator is said to move the pins four times faster than conventional designs. Mold-Masters Ltd., Georgetown, Ont., says its E-Drive system provides tighter control of the nozzle action, bringing higher precision to high-cavitation (up to 32) molding. E-Drive has a servo motor driving a timing belt and two ball screws that actuate the pin plate and all of the pins simultaneously. Pin open/close times are as short as 0.1 sec for pin strokes of 1 to 9 mm. The system is used with the company's Master Series Femto, Pico, and Centi nozzles and with various valve-gating options including its Accu-Valve design. E-Drive also comes with a compact, easy-touse control unit that contains the servo amplifier and a touchscreen panel for setup and monitoring. (800) 387-2483 . www.moldmasters.com
