Cold-Runner System for LSR—April 2008

A cold-runner system designed for liquid silicone rubber as well as high-temperature-vulcanizing silicone rubber and other elastomers is being introduced in North America by D-M-E Co., Madison Heights, Mich. The system is based on the KKS standardized cold-runner system D-M-E has offered in Europe since the early 1990s. Nozzles are adjustable by volume through separate piston drives that allow for sequential filling adjustment. Water-cooled nozzles are available for processing rubbers of varying viscosities. Components for LSR molding include valve gates for absolute shutoff, a valve-gate controller, and a vacuum unit to remove air from the cavity to ensure filling without flash. The system offers up to 64 drops and can handle shot sizes from 1.1 to 132 lb. (248) 398-6000 • www.dme.net
