| West Control Solutions, Gurnee, Ill., is offering a new compact, retrofittable PLC-based extruder control, designed to replace obsolete PLC controls or discrete pushbutton controls for individual functions on an extruder. The upgrade was developed by PMA (Process Machinery Automation) in Germany, which is now a sister company of West Control within Danaher Corp. The retrofit package is now built by PMA in the U.S. and supplied by West Control.
The retrofit contains a PLC and software for extrusion control and data collection, plus a touchscreen that mounts on an existing control cabinet. The system sells for $6500 with a 6-in. touchscreen and for $8500 with a 12-in. screen and additional functions.
