Keeping-Up with Blow Molding New Neck Finish and Closure For Edible Oils—July 2009

The trend to lightweighting caps and neck finishes on PET bottles for still and carbonated beverages has now spread to edible oils. A new two-piece, flip-top cap optimized for edible oil comes from Bericap in Germany (North American headquarters in Burlington, Ont.). Bericap’s new Galileo II 26/21 closure has the same I.D. as before, but the O.D., wall thickness, and height of the neck have been reduced, saving 31% to 40% in weight.
