| The trend to lightweighting caps and neck finishes on PET bottles for still and carbonated beverages has now spread to edible oils. A new two-piece, flip-top cap optimized for edible oil comes from Bericap in Germany (North American headquarters in Burlington, Ont.). Bericap’s new Galileo II 26/21 closure has the same I.D. as before, but the O.D., wall thickness, and height of the neck have been reduced, saving 31% to 40% in weight. First application is in Brazil.
