MATERIALS: DSM To Build First North American Plant For High-Viscosity Nylon 6
High-viscocity nylon 6 grades for flexible packaging to be produced here by DSM.
DSM Engineering of The Netherlands (U.S. office in Evansville, Ind.) is investing in its first North American polymerization plant for Akulon high-viscosity nylon 6 for flexible packaging and other extrusion applications.
Flexible films based on Akulon nylon 6 reportedly offer a strong barrier against oxygen and aromas along with exceptional mechanical strength and durability. With construction scheduled to start in fourth quarter and completion targeted for mid-2016, site locations are currently under evaluation. (812) 435-7539 • dsm.com
