Novatec Adds Gomez

Company seeks to expand position in pneumatic conveying and engineered systems.

Baltimore-based Novatec Inc. has announced the hiring of Dr. Jaime A. Gómez as v.p., market development. In this new role, Gomez will be charged with enhancing Novatec’s efforts to grow its business in the pneumatic conveying and engineered systems markets for processors.

Gómez has a BS in Chemical Engineering from Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana in Medellín, Colombia; an MS in Organic Chemistry from Wichita State University in Wichita, Kan.; and a PhD in Polymer Science from the University of Connecticut in Storrs, Ct. In addition to his technical training, Dr. Gómez received an MBA from New York University (Stern School of Business) with concentration in International Business, Finance and Marketing.

Gómez has 20 years’ experience in plastics, including the past six as global business development manager for chemicals and plastics at Coperion K-Tron Inc. He has also been very active in both the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) and the Society of Plastics Industry (SPI).

Commenting on the appointment, Conrad Bessemer, president and CEO of Novatec, says. “I’ve known Jaime for a number of years and we are excited to have him join the Novatec team. We have made great strides in growing the business in the past eight years, having more than doubled sales. 2014 has been another banner year. We are hiring production workers and have many of them working seven days a week to keep up with demand. We know that Jaimie will help Novatec move to the next level of expansion.”
