Is there a method for stripping copper-nickel-chrome deposits from rejected zinc diecastings?

Q. Is there a method for stripping copper-nickel-chrome deposits from rejected zinc diecastings? K.G.

A.
I have not come across a process that does a good job stripping this deposit of zinc diecasts. Most likely, you can strip the chrome from the nickel and the nickel from the copper, but removing copper from a zinc diecast would be very difficult at best, and, based on what I have observed, not very reliable. Check out the article “Stripping of Plated Finishes” from the Products Finishing Directory and Technology Guide at PFonline.com/articles/stripping-of-plated-finishes for some helpful hints on stripping processes in general.
