The scuttlebutt among medical processors is that automotive buyers displaced by the turndown in the car market are popping up at medical device OEMs. It will be interesting to see whether these buyers adopt the same "price first" strategy in the stringent medical market as they have for years in automotive (with fairly miserable results for processors and their suppliers). The early read is that they might try, but the risk associated with moving molds around and changing suppliers in medical--or attempting to go offshore--will outweigh the benefits from getting concessions on price or other terms.

Still, it's a development worth tracking.
