Off to the Races ... Again

Many machine tool builders, manufacturing accessory and tooling companies have aligned themselves with various auto racing teams. Hurco Companies Inc. (Indianapolis, Ind.) is no exception. The company has finalized a sponsorship agreement with Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing (SFHR) for the balance of the 2013 IZOD IndyCar Series season.

As part of the agreement, Hurco installed a CNC lathe and a CNC three-axis mill at the team’s machine shop located at the new SFHR facility in Speedway, Ind. As a sponsor, the company logo is featured prominently on the #67 car driven by Josef Newgarden. As a sponsor, Hurco has VIP access to the team’s race facilities that they will use to give customers behind-the-scenes track experiences that are priceless.

“Actually, the sponsorship decision we made with Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing is due in large part to the success we’ve had with another IndyCar team out of Indianapolis. Our experience with Dreyer & Reinbold Racing during the last 3 years has been outstanding and our customers continually have told us how much they appreciate the track experience and hospitality. We’re excited to expand our involvement in racing with SFHR, and we are honored they will be using our CNC machines to make precision parts,” says Greg Volovic, president of Hurco.

The addition of these new machine tools to the machine shop at the SFHR facility will give the team more control over its engineering projects and provide the manufacturing autonomy that is vital in the competitive world of IndyCar. It’s also a nice perk for Hurco customers able to attend the races and visit the shop.
