Rock Stars and Heroes

3. April 2013

Manufacturing is full of them, and that's what the Edge Factor's producer and host Jeremy Bout highlighted recently as a keynote speaker in front of Worcester Technical High School students hosted by The Manufacturing Advanced Center for Workforce Innovation Collaborative (MACWIC), in partnership with the Massachusetts Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MassMEP). Getting kids excited and interested in manufacturing has been one of THE hottest topics among moldmakers these past few years, so this story got my attention.

For those not familiar with the Edge Factor, it "uses media to tells stories of innovative manufacturing teams working together to design and build incredible products that impact lives". At Edge Factor, they strongly believe "manufacturers are heroes, and engineers are rockstars". I believe many of you would agree.

Bout spoke about his new initiative called LAUNCHPOINT, "a fast-paced, high-impact 15-episode video series that will feature success stories from recent graduates offering unique insights on various educational and career pathways that students can consider as they launch their own careers in manufacturing".

“For a student and their parent to make manufacturing their career of choice, they need to know the incredible opportunities in front of them. We believe this new series will provide the footsteps for them to follow and the pathways to emulate for success in the manufacturing field,” states Bout.

This is also a good time to highlight our Making Real Progress in Workforce Development Panel taking place at the amerimold expo on June 12. Click here for details.
