Learn More … About Injection Molding

Originally titled ''

Register now for the Molding 2016 conference and get up to date on all technology issues related to your business.

Learn more. You’ll see those two words peppered throughout this publication. Mostly, you’ll see them in a rectangular box at the end of articles in the print edition of Plastics Technology, be they Technology Close-Ups, Know-How columns, and even feature stories.

We do this because we know our print publication—as thorough and timely as we try to make it—may not necessarily be the “final word” on whatever subject matter interests (or troubles) you at the moment. So we use these Learn Mores to remind you to check out specific places on our website for more articles and useful information on a particular topic.

Take, for example, this article on purging. A very well thought-out piece on why the art of purging should be stepped up to the science of purging. The story included plenty of useful tips as well. But through the Learn More box, we encourage readers to investigate this topic in more breadth and depth by visiting the Purging Zone at the ptonline.com website. There, you’ll find links to various other articles on purging. Perhaps this particular article touched only peripherally on what you do, because maybe, for example, your business is blown film. By visiting the Purging Zone, you’ll be able to navigate to an article that appeared in print 10 months ago, written by technical experts from Dow, specific to purging and cleaning a blown film line. Plus lots of other articles.
What am I getting at? That Plastics Technology aims to be your go-to source to Learn More:

 •  On paper, where you will be kept abreast of new technology as well as processing tips, best practices, troubleshooting, and more in the pages of this magazine, which has been published every month for 62+ years;
 •  Righ there online, where you’ll get access not only to repurposed print articles but also to videos, webinars, Knowledge Centers, and more;
 •  In your inbox via our e-newsletters.
 •  And now more than ever, in person.

That last bulleted item is particularly timely because this March, you’ll be able to Learn More about injection molding at our Molding 2016 conference. It’s scheduled for March 29-31 at the Westin New Orleans Canal Place Hotel in New Orleans. Now in its 26th year, Molding 2016 brings global leaders and innovators in injection molding together under one roof for the world’s preeminent conference on this technology. Quite simply, if you’re in the business of injection molding, it is the must-attend conference of the year.

The program was assembled primarily by my colleagues at Plastics Technology magazine—Executive Editor Matt Naitove and Senior Editor Tony Deligio, both of whom are wired very closely to the injection molding market. The program is more robust than ever before in that it encompasses not only what goes on between the platens, but delves into crucial pre- and post-processing operations as well: drying, blending, and handling of materials; post-mold automation, assembly, and packaging. There are also sessions devoted to materials developments, tooling, process development, emerging technologies (a Molding Conference staple), and break-out sessions specific to molding for automotive and medical.

I’d like you to please visit moldingconference.com to Learn More about the full agenda, the details about the hotel, conference pricing, speaker details, etc. Then I’d like you to consider registering to attend so you can Learn More...about injection molding.
