We at Plastics Technology and parent company Gardner Business Media are delighted to announce that veteran plastics-industry journalist Tony Deligio is now part of the PT editorial team. Tony joined us at K 2013. In fact, his byline appears in this very issue.

Tony was most recently content director for UBM Canon’s “Plastics Today” series of electronic newsletters. Prior to that appointment, he worked in various editorial capacities for Injection Molding Magazine, Modern Plastics Worldwide, and Plastics Machinery & Auxiliaries in a career in plastics publishing that spans 13 years.

At GBM, Deligio will serve as senior editor for Plastics Technology, where he will contribute features on how technology is being utilized by leading-edge processors. He will also be editor of the brand’s electronic-product offerings. That effort is already under way, as PT has enhanced its position on social media such as Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn.

“The move to add Tony to the Plastics Technology team is a clear sign of Gardner’s commitment to the plastics market,” stated Rick Kline Jr., publisher of PT and part of the company’s fourth-generation ownership team. “At Gardner, we conduct yearly research across all of our brands to determine how media is used in manufacturing facilities. Plastics processors have told us that while print publications are their number-one option to obtain information on new technology, tips, and best practices, they also do research online at websites like ours, and like to avail themselves of products such as e-newsletters. Tony’s experience with both print and with electronic media will strengthen Plastics Technology’s vision to create and distribute unique, practical, technical information —relevant to its processor audience—in whichever format they prefer.”

The appointment of Tony is the second addition to our editorial team we’ve made in just about a year.  Shortly before last year’s NPE Show, we announced that Senior Editor Lilli Manolis Sherman had rejoined the PT team.

Gardner Business Media is a family-owned company that was started in 1928 with the launch of Modern Machine Shop magazine, which is recognized as the premier metalworking and machine tool publication in North America. In addition to publishing Plastics Technology, Gardner produces the NPE Show Directory and the online NPE show planner for the Society of the Plastics Industry.
