In-line Systems for Thermoformers
High volume thermoforming benefits greatly from direct coupling of the sheet extruder to the thermoformer, or in-line thermoforming. This includes sheet extrusion systems producing consumer packaging, medical packaging, food service and other disposable products.
A few examples of in-line sheet coextrusion systems are illustrated here. Depending on the sheet structure, capacity desired, and thermoformer width many other configurations and capacities are possible.

ROTARY DRUM SYSTEM
The entire sheet take-off is eliminated, as is any need to reheat the sheet, when material exiting the sheet die is cast directly onto the drum of a Rotary Drum thermoformer. Rotary Drum Thermoformers are used to produce lids, reticulated water-stop sheet, and other thin, shallow draft items. They are not suitable for deep draw items because they cannot be removed from the drum after forming.
