What is Profile Extrusion?

Plastic Extrusion is a process where the extruder melts and then pushes material out of a die to form a continuous part. The hot die that is attached to the extruder forms the basic shape but then the hot plastic must be cooled in a manner that holds the part in the desired shape as the plastic is cooled. The part shape is identical in the length of the extrusion and can be cut to any length. The shape in the other 2 dimensions or the cross section (height and width) can be almost anything the mind can conceive, from very simple shapes like a flat strip or tube to a very complex profile used to make a window frame.
