3D Printing Filament from Recycled Plastic
Recycled ABS filament from a new start-up.
Chicago technology start-up Dimension Polymers has developed what is said to be the first “professionally engineered” 3D printing filament made from recycled plastic (ABS). The company envisions that the innovation of a “sustainable” 3D printing filament will have a significant impact on this fast-growing market.
Dimension Polymers has also partnered with a local company to source its packaging, which also is made of 100% recyclable material. In fact, Dimension calls it a “first-of-its-kind” spool made of lightweight chipboard that can be put in home or office recycle bins. Most filament today comes on heavy plastic pools. The laminate and ink for the company logo are also described as ecofriendly.
