Gibbs and Associates will demonstrate how its GibbsCAM software for programming CNC machine tools supports DMG Mori Seiki milling, turning, turn-mill and multitasking machine tools this week at the machine tool builder’s Manufacturing Days. The four-day event runs November 12-15 at DMG Mori Seiki’s California research and development facility.
Among the GibbsCAM features to be demonstrated are its advanced 3D high-speed machining and its programming of multi-spindle, multi-turret, multitasking machines (MTM), including use of GibbsCAM’s Sync Manager function to optimize turret utilization and cycle times.
Attendees will be able to tour DMG Mori Seiki’s manufacturing and digital technology laboratory, attend daily seminars by executives from well-known manufacturing companies, and see the company’s latest manufacturing technology. Bill Gibbs, Gibbs and Associates founder and president, will attend the event on Wednesday to view this latest technology and to visit with joint customers.
GibbsCAM has supported DMG and Mori Seiki machine tools for nearly 30 years with its standard functions and custom post-processors, including post-processors for virtually every series of turning, turn-mill and MTM machines, as well as Mori Seiki’s NMV series of five-axis machine tools. In addition, Gibbs and Associates says it took a leadership role in supporting the machine tool builder’s 2012 standardization initiative, which involved implementing standard automatically programmed tool (APT) programming language with DMG Mori Seiki extensions. This standardization initiative was intended to eliminate the need for each CAM provider to develop a custom post-processor and machine simulation model for each machine. Instead, DMG Mori Seiki provides a post-processor and simulation package for its own CNC machines.
