Real and potential use of thermoplastic composites in aircraft interior applications is among the topics to be explored at CompositesWorld's High-Performance Composites for Aircraft Interiors conference, Oct. 2-3, co-located with Aircraft Interiors Expo Americas 2013 in Seattle, Wash., USA.

At CompositesWorld’s 2013 High-Performance Composites for Aircraft Interiors, new developments in the fields of high-temperature and fire-resistant applications, including recent changes in FAA FST requirements for materials of construction and potential solutions to meet those, will be discussed by composite industry innovators. Presentations about breakthroughs in thermoset and thermoplastic resin systems are planned, as well as new developments in core, such as Nomex and Kevlar honeycomb, and adhesive bonding and curing advances for these advanced composites.

David Manten, president, Dutch Thermoplastic Composites (Almere, The Netherlands), will focus on the availability of new low-cost, high-performance thermoplastic composite semi-finished products and the development of low-cost, high-volume manufacturing technologies and how these are leading to interesting opportunities for the application of thermoplastic composites in aircraft interior structures.
