NPE09: Has the Tide Turned?

By most accounts June's NPE show was a success. The old trade show adage that quality trumps quantity held true, as overall attendance may have been down from the '06 show, but the people who walked the floor were the heavy hitters. The hope is that the show will be the kick off point for an industry resurgence. In our first show report we cover new developments in injection molding, extrusion/compounding and blow molding. There’s more to come. Check out our NPE Zone for all articles we’re written this year related to NPE.

Buying Resin
Market indicators are showing a flat to soft market over the next few months. With low feedstock prices and improving inventories due to low export, and lack of North American demand, processors must manage inventories to prevent a repeat of 2008, when many were caught with excess material at significantly higher prices.
