The upgraded Ecoformer KMV 53E in-line vacuum former from Kiefel GmbH in Germany (U.S. office in Hampton, N.H.), has considerably higher forming pressure and slightly larger forming area than its predecessor, model KMV 50. Forming pressure has been raised from 3 bars to 5 bars (73 psi) on the KMV 53, and width is enlarged from 500 to 530 mm, while forming length grew from 350 to 366 mm. KMV models have a built-in pressure box with a water-cooling plate as the mold base, allowing use of less expensive tooling without a cooling circuit for simple parts like blister packs without a lot of depth or definition. Higher pressure allows the same low-cost tooling to be used, but achieves higher definition. The KMV 53 has integrated heated steel-ruledie trimming and up-stacking.
