Four new additive concentrates for polyolefins from Polyfil Corp., Rockaway, N.J., boast cost/performance improvements over earlier versions: UVC-1081 is a stabilizer that reportedly provides processing stability as well as long-term protection from heat aging, airborne chemicals, and uv light. PAC-0154 is described as an economical, high-efficiency processing aid that performs better at lower use levels than earlier concentrates. It is said to eliminate melt fracture, die build-up, and gel formation while also reducing energy use and boosting output. ABC-2000HC is a high-clarity antiblock concentrate for PE films. It boasts more than 10% better gloss, haze, see-through clarity, and blocking-force reduction than other “clarity” antiblocks. Even greater benefits are claimed versus diatomaceous earth. FSC-0500V is a fast-blooming oleamide slip concentrate derived from vegetable sources. Designed for PE food wrap, it is reportedly more cost-effective than erucamide concentrates.
