Struktol Company of America, Stow, Ohio, has expanded its V-Series line of lubricant additives for rigid PVC calendering and sheet or profile extrusion. First, Struktol VLB 602 is a combination of internal and external lubricants specifically for clear extrusions, especially those that require printing, laminating, or bonding. It is designed to provide maximum clarity and a wide processing window.
Struktol also offers a vegetable-based version, VLB 618, with the same processing and optical properties as VLB 602.
Struktol also recently introduced VLB 701, a blend of complex esters and metal soaps that provides a combination of internal lubrication and external release. It is used in clear calendered sheet, where processors report excellent metal release.
Also new is SA 0720, a novel functional additive for rigid PVC extrusion that provides a matte finish suitable for water-channeling applications or for low gloss. With loading levels of 3% or below, this is said to be a cost-effective alternative to more costly polymeric surface modifiers.
