When Rival A/S in Skanderborg, Denmark, introduced its adjustable calibrating sleeve at the K 2004 show in Dusseldorf, the sleeve made small adjustments of only up to about 4% to fit European pipe standards. Since then, Rival has re-engineered the calibrators, using the same principle of tightening a series of separate rings or hoops like tightening a belt. The calibrators now adjust on the fly in a 10% to 12% diameter range that meets U.S. pipe standards for IPS and DIPS. Rival will show the new adjusting sleeves in 4- to 12-in. sizes at NPE 2009 next month in Chicago and has built them up to 18 in. Rival has also increased the diameter of its original sleeves with the narrower adjustment range and now offers them up to 63 in. The biggest to date was built last year for up to 48-in. pipe. +45 (40) 29 75 77 • www.rival.dk
