A new melt indexer with advanced heating and temperature control and other new and improved features was unveiled at the recent K 2007 show in Dusseldorf. Developed by Zwick/Roell, the German parent of Zwick USA, Kennesaw, Ga., the Mflow plastometer is said to achieve much better temperature accuracy and stability than existing products. It conducts melt-flow test Methods A and B according to ISO 1133 and ASTM D1238. The operator just selects “ASTM” or “ISO” and the controller automatically chooses the parameters for MVR (mass volume rate) determination. An optional motor-driven filament cutter improves the accuracy of high-MFR results according to Method A. The optional travel transducer allows very accurate MVR measurements according to Method B because the digital measurement system reportedly has much higher precision than previous technology. The system includes a PC and testXpert II software. Tel: (800) 5469757 • www.zwick.com

Solving problems generally requires distinguishing good samples from bad ones. But that can become clumsy when one person runs the test while another analyzes the data.
