A new, non-accelerating crosslinking additive is designed to improve the shape of high-resilient (HR) slabstock foam blocks. Developed by Germany’s Byk-Chemie GmbH (parent of Byk USA in Wallingford, Conn.), Byk-P9910 is said to eliminate the “cold-flow effect” that produces trapezoidal HR blocks. Conventional anti-cold-flow solutions involve filled polyols. Recent production trial results showed that the use level of BYK-P9910 can be 20% to 50% lower than for these filled polyols. This new type of anti-cold-flow additive also has a strong effect on broadening the processing window by slowing down the reaction speed.
