Three new alumina trihydrate (ATH) grades optimized for plastics composites are available from Huber Engineered Materials, Atlanta. These grades are said to permit higher than normal loadings without corresponding increases in mix viscosity. The result is lower cost and improved flame and smoke performance. MoldX A100 reportedly can be used at very high loadings—from 250 phr to as high as 400 phr—in hand lay-up, pultrusion, SMC, and BMC. MoldX C200 is an optimized combination of ATH and ground calcium carbonate for use in place of regular ATH grades in SMC and BMC. MoldX W300 is for color-sensitive thermoset applications such as cast polymer, SMC, and BMC. (678) 247-7300 • www.hubermaterials.com
