A new automatic device to make it safer to reclaim smaller scrap film rolls is being introduced this month at the CMM show in Chicago by Precision AirConvey, Newark, Del. Its Model 30 is less expensive than the company’s earlier Model 72 splitter for much larger rolls of scrap. It reportedly cuts through rolled film automatically without damaging the cores. Small scrap rolls are often removed from cores manually with a box cutter, which is dangerous for workers. The new Model 30 for up to 30-in.-long rolls has safety features like two-hand controls and an electronically interlocked safety enclosure with a viewing window.
