New NDM-5 compact dryer from Novatec Inc., Baltimore, is designed specifically for low-volume medical molding at up to 5 lb/hr. The dryer uses compressed air and a proprietary membrane, instead of dusty desiccant beads. It can dry any type of resin and is available in a compact package for machine mounting. Materials can be changed by simply removing the integral glass hopper and replacing it with a spare hopper containing another material.
The NDM-5 has no moving parts, so the only scheduled maintenance is to replace the filter elements yearly. Operation is simple: Just turn the dryer on and set the temperature on the microprocessor control, which comes with a pendant on a 12-ft cable. The NDM-5 can be equipped with Novatec’s new MoistureMaster technology for in-line moisture analysis.
