Three new models have been added to the FNX line of hybrid presses from Nissei America, Anaheim, Calif. Introduced at NPE 2006, the FNX line is powered by Nissei's hydraulic XPump, which is driven by an electric servomotor. It reportedly uses 55% less oil and 40% less energy than the conventional hydraulic pump and valve system on Nissei's FN series. The X-Pump operates on an as-needed basis, rather than running continuously to power injection and clamping functions. It delivers a 40-millisec response time, comparable to a high-response electric press, and injection speed of 300 mm/sec (standard) is up to 50% faster than a hydraulic machine. The X-Pump reportedly also affords stable control of injection at very low speeds. Operation is said to be almost as quiet as an all-electric press. The FNX line previously ranged from 88 to 198 tons. Nissei added the new 242-ton model FNX 220A, 308ton FNX 280, and 396-ton FNX 360. They come with Nissei's TACT controller and 12-in. color touchscreen. Tel: (714) 693-3000 . www.nisseiamerica.com
