The new C8 model Calendrette from Battenfeld Extrusionstechnik in Germany (represented here by American Maplan, McPherson, Kan.) has higher output than previous models of this simplified calender for thin PVC sheet. The C8 has up to1.9-meter-wide rollers and output up to 2800 lb/hr, more than double that of the largest previous model (C3.1). This system uses an eight-screw planetary extruder and a long die to extrude a curtain of individual strands. These strands make it possible to calender PVC sheet with only three rolls instead of four and to operate at floor level without a pit for the fourth roll.
