A new dry-ice mold-cleaning system is designed to reach into small, deep and/or complex cavities and delicate surfaces without abrasion or need for mold disassembly. The new i3 MicroClean blasting system from Cold Jet LLC, Loveland, Ohio, creates dry ice from recycled carbon dioxide. It not only eliminates use of hazardous chemicals for cleaning, but the dry-ice particles disappear on impact, eliminating secondary waste streams. The system uses Cold Jet’s patented technologies to deliver a high-velocity blast of dry-ice particles shaved from blocks. The system is said to be low in air and ice consumption and almost noise-free.
