Processors using TrueBlend gravimetric blenders from Conair, Pittsburgh, are eligible for a free upgrade to new Version 2.9 of blender control software. It is said to provide greater accuracy, improved communications, and a new reporting package that documents consumption of every ingredient for quality assurance and inventory control. The software analyzes dozens of weight readings within milliseconds, filtering out electronic noise and the effects of vibration. The software also responds quickly to changes in material type or bulk density or material outages. A new diagnostic screen displays target setpoint percentage and actual percentage dispensed. It dynamically displays start and finish weights for each material per batch. Version 2.9 also enables communications with Conair’s Control Works to allow centralized control and monitoring of blenders and other Conair auxiliaries. For extrusion processors, the software offers selectable “Natural Blend Control.” This allows all material types, including regrind, to be automatically designated “naturals” and requires component recipe settings to total exactly 100%, or else the blender will not operate.
