BLOW MOLDING: New Small Reciprocating-Screw Machine

A new, smaller reciprocating-screw extrusion blow molder comes from Uniloy Milacron North America, Tecumseh, Mich. Model UR-65 has a standard shot size of 500 g (with a 28:1 L/D extruder) and throughput of 480 lb/hr.

It can accept molds configured for the renamed UR-80, 90, 100, 250, 350 and 400 models, as well as Liberty series reciprocating screw machines.

Model UR-65 is said to produce HDPE monolayer containers 10% to 20% faster than a wheel or shuttle machine while requiring up to 25% less energy.
