Custom cooling tanks have been built with two or even three different temperature-control zones in the water bath. Custom Downstream Systems (CDS) in Lachine, Que., now offers that plus separate temperature control in the calibrator. The entry half of the tank is "hot," with mixing valves that blend plant chilled water with hot water from a reservoir with four immersion heaters under the tank to hold a controlled temperature. The exit half of the tank is "cold," using only plant chilled water. The system also uses a unique temperature-profiled vacuum calibrator (supplied by the customer) with hot water introduced via 20 ball valves from the heated reservoir and chilled water from another 20 ball valves, allowing its temperature to be controlled separately from the cooling tanks.
