A new central drying system boasts an energy-efficient design that is said to reduce material changeover time. The CDS Series from AEC Inc., Wood Dale, Ill., are custom designed systems that allow users to dry several resins or colors simultaneously using one central dryer (15 to 3000 cfm) with multiple hoppers. This allows for quick mold changes by changing the material conveying route from one hopper to the next without having to empty and clean the hopper.

The CDS system is said to reduce material inventory at the machine and to cut the chances of dried materials regaining moisture. It is also said to increase shop-floor safety because the hopper is no longer located on top of the processing machine. Carts are available with up to three hoppers. System capacities range from 5 to 6000 lb/hr.
