Two new features that boost throughput and reduce downtime have been added to 3200 and X Series central granulators from Cumberland Engineering, South Attleboro, Mass. In response to customer requests, Cumberland now provides adjustable rotor knives, which eliminate any loss of throughput from the reduction of the cutting circle due to knife wear and resharpening. They also increase throughput of preshredded products and enable close knife-to-screen tolerances for cutting film and thin sheet. Also new are replaceable rotor-knife seats, which facilitate repair and replacement of a common maintenance item and also permit repair of stripped knife bolt holes—all without costly downtime or machining requirements.
