A prototype nano-pulverizer from Thinky Corp. in Japan is based on the company’s planetary rotation-and-revolution mixer. The prototype uses a zirconia vessel that contains lots of small zirconia balls and rotates at over 2000 rpm. The balls reportedly reduce micro materials to nano size in a matter of minutes instead of hours or days. The zirconia balls range in size between 0.3 and 0.5 mm diam. The prototype will be shown for the first time at the Nanotech 2009 Conference & Expo in Houston May 5-6, sponsored by the Nano Science and Technology Institute (NTSI), Cambridge, Mass. Thinky USA Inc. has a new office in Laguna Hills, Calif. Thinky also recently introduced a new standardized twin version of its ARV5000 vacuum centrifugal mixer (see photo) The “twin” has two 5-kg mixing containers. The “twin” approach increases mixing capacity from 5 kg to 10 kg in the same machine. (949) 768-9001 • www.thinky.co.jp
